The Wild Florida Park, located in the Everglades, is a must for animal lovers. The park is “in the middle of nowhere,” and a glimpse into what Florida looked like over a 1,000 years ago. At the park, you’ll learn about the mission to protect and preserve Central Florida’s natural beauty, and its wildlife.
More than 200 animals live here, including lemurs, zebras, watusi, bobcats, sloths, and, of course, alligators. Most of the 150 alligators living here were rescued after the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission deemed them a “nuisance” in the wild, and would have been euthanized. Crusher is the star of the show, as the biggest gator in the park, weighing one ton, and measuring 13.5-feet-long.
The park has a variety of attractions, which include airboat rides, a safari drive-thru park, and Gator Park. Depending on your visit, you can expect to enjoy safe viewing areas, a chance to feed some of the exotic animals, and more.
